Job description

Team Leader – Quality Methods & Insights (QMI), Pune

Description & Requirements

Bloomberg runs on data. Our products are fueled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock – from around the world. In Data, we are responsible for delivering this data, news and analytics through innovative technology - quickly and accurately. We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies, and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes - all while providing platinum customer support to our clients.

The team:

Data Management & Operations (DMO) serves as the Chief Operations Office for Bloomberg Data, with the Quality Methods & Insights (QMI) team acting as its strategic analytics and methodology partner. QMI drives data quality, timeliness, and operational efficiency across Bloomberg's data products by establishing quality governance standards, optimizing workflows, delivering common reporting and analytics, applying decision science to support investments and operational change, and developing workflow telemetry and productivity measurement capabilities. We partner closely with Data Operations, Vendor Management, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure global data processes scale efficiently, predictably, and with measurable quality outcomes.

The role:

In this role, you will lead a regional team of process engineers, data quality analysts, decision scientists, and analytics specialists who partner directly with APAC-based Data operations, Vendor Managers, and Product Engineering. You will act as the regional ambassador for QMI’s methodologies, driving high-impact initiatives that range from operational workflow measurement and vendor quality governance to process redesign. Success in this position requires a balance of inspirational people leadership, rigorous analytical craft, and executive stakeholder management. You will champion a culture of "context over control," empowering your team to solve complex problems independently while ensuring regional deliverables seamlessly align with QMI’s global strategic objectives across London, Princeton, and New York.

We'll trust you to:

Lead, develop, and grow a high-performing APAC team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.

Build strategic partnerships with regional Data, Operations, Product, Engineering, and Vendor Management leaders to identify priorities, align on outcomes, and drive data-driven decision making.

Drive operational excellence through workflow measurement, process optimization, productivity benchmarking, and scalable automation initiatives, including AI-enabled solutions.

Oversee data quality governance and decision analytics capabilities, leveraging statistical methods, experimentation, and AI evaluation frameworks to improve quality, quantify impact, and reduce operational risk.

Partner with global QMI and Technical Project Management teams to deliver governed analytics platforms, reusable frameworks, and disciplined project execution, ensuring measurable business impact and consistent technical standards.

You'll Need to Have:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.

5+ years of people leadership experience, with a proven track record of building, coaching, and developing high-performing analytical or technical teams.

Strong analytical background in areas such as Applied Statistics, Decision Science, Data Quality, Operations Research, or a related discipline, with experience designing measurement frameworks and evaluating operational systems.

Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills, with experience using tools such as Python, SQL, or equivalent analytics platform

Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, navigate complex cross-functional environments, and drive alignment across regional and global teams.

Experience in operational performance and quality management, leveraging data-driven approaches to improve efficiency, quality, and decision-making.

Experience leveraging AI, causal inference, Bayesian modelling, and LLM evaluation to drive operational and decision-making improvements.

Ability to scale impact through others by setting direction, coaching teams, and establishing repeatable frameworks and operating mechanisms.

A strategic yet execution-oriented mindset, capable of balancing long-term capability building with immediate business impact.

Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization

Fluency in written and spoken English

We’d love to see:

Familiarity with enterprise data quality and governance frameworks such as DCAM, DAMA, statistical quality monitoring, and semantic validation.

Experience with modern data platforms and analytics architectures, including Spark, dbt, Iceberg/Delta, Lakehouses, or Knowledge Graphs.

Knowledge of workflow management and operational tooling, such as Jira, queue management, or work routing platforms.

Experience in financial market data, global operations, or third-party vendor management environments.
