You’ll have a front-row seat to the UK’s energy transition by working directly on high-impact investment deals. It’s a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves digging into complex projects and wants to see their analysis turn into real-world infrastructure decisions.
Job description
Join our origination team and help shape investment in the UK’s energy infrastructure. Supporting live deals and new market opportunities, you will gain hands-on experience across the full origination process.
You will help assess opportunities, coordinate specialist workstreams and turn commercial, technical and financial analysis into clear recommendations for senior decision-makers.
This role will suit a highly organised self-starter who enjoys taking ownership, working at pace and getting things done.
You can be based in Glasgow or London, with two office days per week and occasional UK travel.
What you’ll be doing
Supporting the origination team on live deals and existing markets, while helping to assess new markets and infrastructure opportunities.
Taking opportunities from initial assessment and early planning through strategy development, approval and execution support.
Preparing approval packs, strategy papers and review materials for TAQA, the Group Management Committee and other senior governance forums.
Producing clear, persuasive materials for management teams that explain the opportunity, proposed approach, expected cost, key risks and recommended decision.
Supporting due diligence across commercial, technical, legal, regulatory and insurance matters, including reviewing adviser outputs and identifying issues requiring action.
Reviewing and analysing contracts, financial models, cost estimates and commercial assumptions, including those relevant to OFTO opportunities.
Coordinating technical, legal, insurance and commercial workstreams, maintaining momentum and ensuring actions, dependencies and deadlines are understood.
Managing elements of the deal process, including tender clarifications, information requests, submission activity and engagement with partners, advisers and other stakeholders.
Undertaking market assessments, competitor analysis, benchmarking and framework development to support origination strategy and investment decisions.
Supporting the wider team with bid documentation, presentations, governance papers and other high-quality outputs needed to progress opportunities.
What we’re looking for
A degree-level qualification or equivalent, ideally in business, law, economics, finance, engineering, quantity surveying or a related subject.
Experience supporting deals, bids, infrastructure development, commercial activity or project delivery in a fast-paced environment. This may have been gained through a graduate or trainee scheme or in an early-career role.
Exposure to an electricity transmission operator, energy developer, offshore wind business, infrastructure investor, adviser or major utility would be advantageous.
Relevant roles might include origination or bid support, project development, commercial analysis, advisory, or junior contracts management.
Some understanding of the deal or development environment, with evidence of contributing to opportunity assessment, due diligence, contracts, cost analysis or internal approvals.
Knowledge of onshore electricity transmission, offshore wind, OFTOs, CATOs, interconnectors or related energy infrastructure would be beneficial.
Experience using data, spreadsheets or financial models for research, analysis and decision support.
Skills and strengths
Highly organised, with the ability to structure work, manage competing priorities and keep multiple workstreams moving.
A practical self-starter who takes ownership, works independently and follows tasks through to completion.
Comfortable working at pace on live deals, responding to changing priorities and being flexible around critical transaction and bid deadlines.
Strong analytical and commercial judgement, with the ability to identify the important points in complex information.
Clear and concise written and verbal communication, including the ability to prepare persuasive materials for senior management.
Confidence coordinating colleagues, advisers and partners across technical, legal, insurance and commercial disciplines.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Curiosity, resilience and a genuine desire to learn and develop in the energy infrastructure sector.
Sound judgement when using AI tools to support research, analysis and drafting, including critical review and verification of outputs.
We recognise that strong candidates may not meet every requirement. We encourage you to apply if you are interested in the role and believe you could make a valuable contribution.
