Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity at the Department of State! The Configuration / Change Management (C/CM) Specialist is responsible for all configuration and change management operations within the hybrid VPC and global network infrastructure for the customer using the ITIL framework.

Responsbilities:

You will maintain accurate and timely records of all configuration items, and coordinate configuration information with incident, problem, change, and release management processes.

Automated discovery methods shall be used to reconcile configuration updates with established baselines.

You will record, track, and monitor all CIs, settings, and component changes within the C/CM system; maintain logical and physical models of service area devices, site topology, and their relationships to ensure accurate, up-to-date configuration records.

This role requires you apply automated master data management techniques to reconcile manual updates and network discovery results with the configuration baseline, ensuring data integrity and consistency across all C/CM tools and activities.

You will develop, update, and maintain comprehensive baseline documentation for all systems and applications (e.g., designs, build procedures, test reports), alongside standardized SOPs and best practices for C/CM activities.

You will also manage the end-to-end change management process by preparing, submitting, and presenting change requests—including impact/risk assessments and implementation plans—to the Enterprise Change Board (ECB), and execute emergency change procedures for critical issues when expedited approval is required.

Additionally, you will conduct ongoing assessments and periodic audits of configuration items, baselines, and the computing environment to ensure strict compliance with established C/CM plans, department requirements, and operational standards.

You will also conduct post-implementation reviews to validate successful deployments and identify lessons learned; provide regular C/CM reporting, including metrics on change success rates, configuration compliance, and baseline drift.
