If you’re a night owl looking for a reliable role, this is a great way to stay active while helping get the store ready for the day. You'll enjoy a steady, independent work environment where you can keep things organized, with no need for a degree to get started.

Job description

What you’ll be doing

Getting the store ready for the day ahead by filling shelves, working at a good steady pace throughout the night and being prepared to work with a variety of product types

Keeping your workspace tidy for other colleagues and making sure our aisles are clean, presentable and ready for our customers the next day

Collecting and moving stock safely from the warehouse to the shopfloor, including heavy equipment and containers

Working across different parts of the store, which could include chilled and frozen areas

Using equipment, handsets and digital systems to complete your work accurately and safely

Helping in other areas when needed, which could include picking online orders or serving customers at checkouts once you’re trained and confident

What it takes to be part of our team

Friendly and welcoming, with a genuine enthusiasm for delivering for customers

Working nights takes energy, resilience and a hands-on approach, so you will be ready to work in a physically demanding role and able to adapt to the disruption that working over-night can have on well-being and sleep

Committed team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is always willing to support colleagues and work together

Flexibly and willingness to work across the store and take on new challenges

Open to learning, developing and trying new things to improve our service

Confident learning to use new digital tools and technology to do your job brilliantly

Take pride and ownership in your work, including a good attention to detail, maintaining a clean and tidy work space and always looking for ways to make our customer experience better

Supporting you at work and beyond

We offer our colleagues a wide range of rewards and provide competitive benefits:

Nightshift premium – in addition to the advertised hourly rate, a further £2.45 nightshift premium is paid for every hour worked between midnight – 5am (where applicable).

Discount card – 10% off at Sainsbury’s, Argos, Tu, and Habitat, increasing to 15% discount at Sainsbury’s every Friday and Saturday

Holiday entitlement – based on the hours you work

Enhanced Family Leave – Maternity, Paternity, Adoption and more

Pension and life cover – we’ll match between 4-7.5% of your pension contributions and up to 6x life cover

Sainsbury’s share schemes – buy Sainsbury’s shares at discounted prices

Other Retail savings – discounts on eating out, holidays and at other retailers

Physical wellbeing – cycle to work and bike rental schemes, reduced price gym access and Health/Dental cash plans

Mental wellbeing – 24/7 access to our Employee Assistance Programme and Online wellbeing platform

Financial support – interest-free season ticket loans, Pay advance, affordable loans and savings directly from your pay and financial wellbeing resources
