Job description
Perth Amboy drivers: home every night, paid per load and per mile.
If you want to drive for a living and still sleep at home, local intermodal is the seat. New CDL-A holders welcome.
The money
$650 a week during training
$1,200 to $1,800 a week once solo
$55 per load plus $0.61 a mile
1,100 to 1,700 miles a week

Your week
Container moves from the Avenel yard to customers across New Jersey. Mostly drop and hook with some live loads. Home daily.
From CDL school to running solo
A recruiter calls you and reviews your CDL and driving record with you.
Orientation, 2 days at most. Hotel paid, one-way bus ticket reimbursed, $300 for orientation once hired.
4 to 6 weeks with a mentor: backing, trip planning, logs and fueling. You are paid $650 a week.
You run local container moves on your own and go home every night.

"How often will I see home?" Every night.
"Do I pay for orientation?" No. Hotel covered, bus ticket reimbursed, and $300 once you are hired.
"Does my CDL school count?" If it was 120 hours or more, yes.
"What if I have a problem on the road?" Loads are planned for you, and your driver leader picks up the phone.
To qualify
You must be 21 or older with a Class A CDL. New drivers need at least 120 hours from a CDL school; otherwise, 6 months of recent experience. We accept up to 2 moving violations in the last 2 years and no DUI/DWI in the last 10. You will also pass a DOT physical and a hair and urine drug test.
Once you pass 30 days
