Job description
Location
Slovenia - This is a hybrid position, open to candidates residing in Slovenia and within commuting distance of our Ljubljana-based office.
About the Role
As a Software Engineer at PDQ, you'll be a core contributor to PDQ, our cloud hosted end point management solution that IT professionals around the world rely on every day. In this role, you'll own meaningful pieces of the product end-to-end, from design and development through testing and delivery, working independently on moderately complex problems while collaborating closely with peers, product managers, and cross-functional partners. Depending on your background and our team needs, you may instead join the team building the remote desktop clients. PDQ is built mainly in Elixir and Rust, and the clients in C++, Java, and Objective-C.
How You Might Spend Your Day
Design, develop, test, and deliver high-quality software that meets functional, performance, and security requirements.
Work independently on moderately complex tasks and projects, producing reliable, maintainable, and efficient code.
Collaborate with peers, product managers, and other teams to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
Debug, troubleshoot and resolve issues across the full software stack, identifying root causes and implementing durable fixes.
Collaborate with QA and DevOps teams to ensure reliable testing, deployment and monitoring of features.
Document technical designs, implementation details and system dependencies to support long term maintainability.
Take ownership of assigned deliverables and proactively communicate progress, blockers and tradeoffs.
Identify inefficiencies in systems and processes, and propose or implement targeted improvements.
Stay current with relevant technologies and apply emerging practices to improve product quality or team efficiency.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers through pairing, feedback and knowledge sharing.
Support the broader department and company strategy.
We're Looking for People Who Have
Must Have
3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., C#, Go, Python, TypeScript, or similar).
Willingness to learn the team's stack on the job.
Demonstrated ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code in a production environment.
Solid understanding of software design principles, data structures, and algorithms.
Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional engineering teams using agile methodologies.
Nice to Have
Experience with Elixir (or other functional programing languages), Rust, C++, Java, or Objective-C.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Exposure to systems or infrastructure-level programming.
Background in IT, endpoint management, or enterprise software domains.

You write code you're proud of: clear, tested, and built to last
